Our Pride Diana Davis Pulikkoden, from United Kingdom
Already in India, at the age of six, I began my first lessons in dancing. My favourite dancing style is Bharatanatyam. In India I performed at various church festivals and at KCSSC, a Malayalee community in Calcutta. I was encouraged by my uncle Fr.Saju George, himself a Bharatanatyam Artist, who can boast of performances on stages around the world.

As my parents decided to settle down in the UK, a new chapter in my life, also in my dancing career started. That was in the year 2002.

My first appearance in the UK was in 2003 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Kent Malayalee Association. In the UK I have had the opportunity to take lessons in dancing under the well-known Chitra Lakshmi. She is one of the leading London based Indian choreographers for Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam.

I am here in Kent where we have a community of friends dancing and performing together. We dance often for fund-raising in order to support charitable organisations in the UK. It is our intention to carry on our dancing activities to promote culture and contact among all of us in the UK, especially in and around London.

Dancing with me are for example Swarup Menon and T.R.Atmaja, who are also exceptional talents, devoted to the same cause.
I would like to thank the Kent Malayalee Association for giving my friends and me several opportunities to show and develop our talents. My parents and brothers also deserve specially to be mentioned for their untiring support.

I finally thank the readers of kairalieurope.com for taking their precious time to go through these lines. That is also a sign of encouragement for me.
